Congratulations to HSC students

Thursday 24 October 2019 in News from the Cancer Centre

Ten teenagers who are being treated, or have finished treatment, at the Cancer Centre for Children are currently sitting their HSC exams along with almost 75,000 other high school students in NSW. They had their first exam on October 17, and are set to complete them by mid-November, when they will have a well-deserved break.

These resilient students had already accomplished much that required hard work and determination in dealing with their illness, before sitting for their HSC, so are well-equipped for their next path.

They are a source of inspiration and pride and we wish them all the best as they develop their future plans.

Back on Track has collaborated with them, providing educational assistance, and describes their interests as follows:

  • Noah who is keen to study Robotic Engineering,
  • Luke who has an apprenticeship with a local plumber,
  • Caitlin who will commence a course in childcare,
  • Lawson who is deciding between Radiology and Physiotherapy,
  • Ruselle who is interested in nursing,
  • Mitchell who wishes to study Veterinary Science at USYD,
  • Scott who has an early entry offer to study Business Management at Macquarie University through the Global Leadership Entry Program (GLEP),
  • Melissa who has been offered a place at The Academy for Interactive Entertainment for ‘Gaming Animation’,
  • Isabella who is keen on a Biomedical Technology degree course,
  • Anya who has earned herself a gap year in 2020 after which she wishes to study at The Melbourne University.

The personal strength and dedication shown by each of these students is awe-inspiring.

Congratulations to every one of you from the Cancer Centre on how you've approached the HSC and on your outstanding ability to think beyond it.
