Nausea management

Feeling sick all the time will zap your child's energy, motivation and their enthusiasm for life.

Here's what a collection of parents found to help. Try one, try them all.

Foods with a lot of fat may increase nausea in your child due to their treatment so, depending on how they feel, it might be better to avoid them. These include butter, fried foods, milk and chocolate.

Cold foods which don't have much smell can be a great option, such as fruit pieces, fruit juice and jelly.

Toast with a tiny bit of butter will sometimes be tempting when a child doesn't feel like eating.

If treatments make your child feel nauseous or vomit, try not to let them eat their favourite foods before coming into hospital for treatment, because it can turn them off these foods and cause a long-term dislike of them.
