Levi is a star!

Tuesday 8 October 2019 in Patient stories

Friends and family came to support Levi in the Oncology Clinic, on Friday 27th September, and their support for him was written on the backs of their black shirts which were emblazoned with traits that helped him through his difficult cancer treatment.

"LEVI STRONG" stood out in bright yellow letters, a testimony to his incredible strength, and in white was written,

"He is passionate. He is determined. He is courageous, He is fierce. He is a hero. He is an inspiration, He is real. He is a competitor. He will fight. He will not lose. He will inform. He will take action. He will win."

Three-year-old Levi's supporters looked fabulous in their black attire, which clearly defined what an amazing little boy he is to endure so much, and to come through it all to be standing tall and ringing the bell, to celebrate the end of his treatment.

Levi's mother, Karina, and father, Adrian, paid tribute to him in a moving speech just before he rang the bell.

“We honestly didn’t think we would make it to this point, but we always held on to hope!

It's difficult to put in to words just how grateful we are for the effort everyone put in to get Levi healthy.

It has been a terrifying journey, that only fellow families can completely understand but without everyone here today, the family and friends, the doctors and nurses, the team at Camperdown, Geoff, Verity, Michelle & Amy, Donna and Mira... and many more,  thank you, we couldn’t have done it without each of you.

I just also wanted say a special thank you to Angelica or as Levi says 'Jelly', for making each and every visit here as enjoyable as possible for Levi. The genuine care you showed him every visit.  You're honestly an asset to this place!

But the biggest acknowledgment goes to Levi, the star of today!

As his parents you are still surprising us with just how brave and strong you are!

Being the positive person you are has definitely made all the difference, you are one of a kind and we are so blessed to have you as our son.

So with all your strength ring that bell”

Many did not have dry eyes after the speech and it was a wonderful celebration of Levi’s strength and bravery.

When your child finishes cancer treatment, like Levi, it's time to celebrate. Find out what happens after cancer treatment in the long-term follow-up clinic.
