Thursday 20 February 2020 in News from the Cancer Centre

Head of the Tumour bank at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Associate Professor Dan Catchpoole, was recently elected to the esteemed position of President-Elect on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER).

Dr Catchpoole’s work with ISBER will involve helping it to share information about biobanking, promote high quality standards within ethical frameworks, and support innovation in science and the management of materials.

Previously, Dr Catchpoole has championed global collaboration in this sphere and led projects in the Indo-Pacific region for ISBER, but his new role as President will enable him to help guide the strategic direction of the society.

These activities help cancer patients benefit from approved scientists being able to ethically study biological resources to develop more effective treatments and improve our understanding of cancer.
