Chloe rings the bell

Saturday 5 May 2018 in Patient stories

Smiles replaced the stress of the previous seven months for Chloe's family as she celebrated the end of her treatment by ringing the bell. The Filtness family were shocked to discover their little girl had stage five Wilm's tumour at just three years of age.

Chloe's tumour had developed in her kidney, lung and lymph nodes and her prognosis was not good. The tumour required aggressive treatment to stop it growing. After months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, along with surgery to remove one of her kidneys, Chloe is ready to move on from her treatment.

With much of their year spent at the Oncology Treatment Centre at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, the Filtness family were overjoyed to be celebrating with Chloe as she clanged the bell from side to side, with the beautiful noise it made signalling better times ahead.
