On Sunday 23 May, 600 participants took part in the annual Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation’s Bob ‘Tug’ Wilson’s Walk for Kids with Cancer to help support and raise funds for our Cancer Centre for Children (CCFC).

Starting from Circular Quay and ending in Manly, participants who included staff, patients and families came together to show their support for sick kids with cancer.

To kick-off the Walk, Carol Wilson, wife of the late Bob ‘Tug’ was joined by Dr Luciano Dalla-Pozza, Department Head of the CCFC lead the first wave that set off just after 6am.

One of the participants included 2021’s Bob ‘Tug’ Wilson’s patient ambassador, 15-year-old Lucas and his family and friends walking under ‘Team Lucas’. The sea of blue shirts walked 13km in support of Lucas and his journey in hospital after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Lucas is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment at the CCFC.

A big thank you to everyone who signed up for the Walk this year whether you walked 27km, 13km, 1km or joined us on the Virtual Walk, every step and every dollar raised helps support the CCFC.
